While everyone was swooning over their Valentine chocolates and roses this past weekend, MY room was spinning due to…vertigo?! Weeee! Yeah, not exactly how I’d want to spend a relaxing weekend, but better than the alternative. I originally thought I was having a mini-stroke!

Me, trying to walk to the kitchen…

After my dialysis on friday, I noticed that my legs weren’t working normally. I was really unsteady on my feet and my speech was slurred. I figured I was just tired, so I just went to bed early, but the next day, I felt the same. When I called my cardiologist, they told me to go to the hospital, so the ER ran some tests and ruled out stroke (HUGE WHEW!!!!) and concluded that due to an ear infection I had about a month ago, I most likely was suffering from vertigo! I didn’t realize that vertigo could make you feel that way or take so long to pop up! I knew it made you dizzy, but I was thrown for a loop (literally) that it could affect your speech and legs like that too. Huh. Now, I’m recovering and taking anti-dizzy pills for awhile until it goes away. I can’t drive until this dizziness is gone, so I’m feeling like Driving Miss Daisy for sure! Hahaha…

I also have an update on my heartbeats… The results from my Robo-Berta heart monitor came back and it showed that my heart had stopped about 26 times without me feeling a thing! Wh-what? My cardiologist decided that instead of waiting a few years to get the pacemaker/defribrillator, he wants me to get it next month. Yikes! I met with the Echophysiologist today and they’ve scheduled an EP study next month (where they go in via the groin again) and take another look at what my heart looks like so they can decide what type of device I’m going to need. At this point, I’m impartial to which I end up with b/c they are both implanted about the same way. I will probably feel better about not keeling over randomly once I get it in, so there’s that!

The good news is that they are getting it done quickly and it won’t hold me back long from the ever-reaching goal of getting my kidney. They really like making this a challenge for me to get this allusive organ, don’t they??

I hope all of YOU had a great heart/Valentine’s Day!

LOL! I just wanted to put a spinning lamb in the post…

  2. Oh man!! I’ve had vertigo once and literally couldn’t stand up. It was so crazy (and disorienting and scary). I hope the dizzy pills work! AND i hope the device they choose is a HUGE improvement. You have a shit-ton on your plate. And I’m so glad to see you still have a sense of humor and are finding things to be grateful for! Let me know if I can do ANYTHING to help! Love you! ❤ ❤
